  • National Gallery of Scotland
These magnificent galleries in Edinburgh are located on three sites, each home to special exhibitions and different parts of the national collection of fine art. The collection is free to the public, open daily and amongst the best in the world. What's awaiting you? Masterpieces from the early Renaissance to the present day by some of the most important artists in history, as well as portraits of great Scots. You will also find special exhibitions, inspiring activities and events, and bustling cafés and shops. The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, home to the collection of Scottish portraits and the National Photography Collection, is currently closed while it undergoes a major refurbishment. The Gallery will re-open in late 2011.
  • Royal Scottish Academy
The Royal Scottish Academy is the home of contemporary art in Scotland. Since 1826, the Academy has occupied William Henry Playfairs magnificent landmark building on the Mound, Edinburgh. Following a period of relocation due to the major restoration of the RSA building by the National Galleries of Scotland, the RSA returned to its home in spring, 2003. Using exhibition space which has been restored and refurbished to premier international standard, the RSA will continue in its aim of promoting and cultivating the visual arts in Scotland.
  • The Fruitmarket Gallery

The Gallery presents world-class, thought-provoking and challenging art made by both Scottish and international artists in an environment that is welcoming, engaging, informative and always free. The Gallery aims to give audiences the confidence to enjoy contemporary art and to understand the importance of art, artists, culture and creativity and their impact on individual and collective lives. The Gallerys creative programme includes exhibitions, commissions, interpretation, education and publishing in both print and electronic forms. Gallery facilities include a bookshop and a café. The Gallery is physically accessible and family-friendly.
